Evidence

Opening evidence 5 ratings at baseline Opened
  • Baseline: 5 App Store ratings (US) as of our snapshot 2026-08-10T18:00:04Z. Tracking began 2026-08-10; no velocity claim is possible yet and none is made.
  • Released 2026-08-03 (Apple first-publication date) — eight days old at call time. Solo developer (seller: Elliot Myhre).
  • Mechanism, quoted from the App Store listing: 'Feel for your heart rate, lock in a guess, and let your Apple Watch reveal the truth. The gap between your guess and reality is the whole game.'
  • The app scores interoception as a living 0-100 'Attune' metric built from guessing accuracy over time — a game loop, not a dashboard, over a sensor the platform already ships.

Analysis

Health apps show you your data. Heartio makes you guess it first. Before the Apple Watch reveals your heart rate, you commit to a guess from body feel alone — live, during workouts, or about last night’s sleep — and the gap between guess and truth is the score. Practicing the guess trains interoception, the sense of your own body’s state, and a running 0-100 “Attune” score turns that training into a progression loop.

This is the cleanest example in our pool of a pattern we track deliberately: game-as-interface. The sensor is stock hardware every competitor can read; the invention is entirely in the loop — guess, reveal, score, improve. Where a dashboard shows numbers, Heartio manufactures a skill. It is the same structural move that separated breakout habit apps from habit trackers: the product is not the data, it is the game played against yourself.

Eight days old, five ratings — this is the most speculative entry in our opening set, logged early precisely because the thesis (interfaces are becoming games) is one we want tested in public. What would make this a MISS: guess-the-number loops can exhaust their novelty in days, and a solo-built Watch companion lives or dies on session-two retention we cannot observe yet.

No conflict of interest: we have no product in this market.
